WELCOME TO SEARA!

WE INVITE YOU TO LEARN MORE ABOUT SEARA, OUR ORIGINS, OUR FARMS, OUR PROCESSES AND OUR QUALITY. BUT BEFORE WE TAKE YOU ON THIS JOURNEY, ALLOW US TO TELL A LITTLE BIT ABOUT SEARA.

Seara is part of the JBS group, the largest chicken producer in the world, as well as the largest beef producer in the world, with more than 235,000 employees globally.

One of the secrets of Seara is its excellence in quality. Seara's production is highly sustainable and contributes towards environmental protection. With production based on corn and grains, Seara chicken is internationality certified and strictly controlled by the country's authorities and by the authorities of the countries that it exports to. The Seara Q of quality, the health aspects and efficiency, guarantee the presence of Seara products on the table of consumers in all five continents.

Seara partners with more than 9,000 chicken farms throughout Brazil that are integrated with Seara, resulting in more than 5 million chickens produced daily. The integrated system guarantees constant attention and support to the farms, allowing the farmers to raise the birds according to the best production practices available and following the animal welfare guidelines, biosecurity and animal health procedures. Such rules and standards are constantly monitored, guaranteeing the traceability of the product from the farm to your table.

Contrary to what many people believe, the process isn't limited to just chicken farms. It starts much earlier with the chickens' grandparents. They are acquired in Brazil, United States and England, from where they embark when they are just a day old. When they arrive, they are taken to the grandmothers' farm.

These grandmother chickens give rise to the second generation, the birds called matrices. They are the "parents" of the chicken. They are raised in the farms to give birth to the third generation of chickens, which is what comes to our table.

In all the farms involved in the process, the environment is managed to look for the ideal conditions of illumination, ventilation, temperature and hygiene; and the supplied water is treated and monitored.

And now we take you step by step through the journey.

1. The Beginning

Superior young chickens, called Seara grandmothers, are acquired from Brazil, USA and England almost as soon as they are born. These chickens are then shipped to the company’s farm where they are raised for 25 weeks, a phase in which they get ready for reproduction.

The role of the grandmothers
The grandmother chickens are selected to produce large quantities of eggs that must hatch and produce robust chicks with a huge growth potential.

2. THE HATCHING

HEATING & STORING EGGS
The grandmother eggs are transported to the hatcheries where they are kept under a controlled environment that facilitates hatching.

After 21 days the eggs hatch and a new generation of reproducers rises, called the broiler breeders.

The newborn females continue their journey to the breeding farms while the males are housed for 39 days and then slaughtered.

Approximate production cycles
Grandmothers: 420 days
Hatching: 21 days
Broiler Breeders: 462 days
Chicken: 39 days
From the first day the grandmother is housed till the slaughtering of the first batch of chickens (broilers): 564 days.

3. The Breeding

Rearing the future breeders
Just like the grandmothers, the day-old breeders remain at the farms, where they are fed and looked after till they reach their fertile age, which is around 25 weeks of their life.
Note: The poultry reach puberty by approximately 16 weeks and become adults around the 23rd week.

Feed Mill Nutrition and Feeding
All the feeding supplied to the grandmothers, breeders and chicken (broiler/grillers) is produced at our own feed mill. The feedings are formulated with carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and vitamins to meet all the requirements of natural animal growth, maintenance and health.

Composition
The feeding given to the poultry varies according to the nutritional requirement at each stage of their life.

4. Poultry Laying Farms

Mating and Incubation
During fertile age, females and males are received at the Poultry Laying Farm, where they mate.

Similar to what happens to the grandmothers, broiler breeders’ eggs go to the hatcheries for 21 days. When the chicks are born, they are sent to the next farm.

5. Broiler Farms

Growth
When they are a day old, the chicks are received by the integrated farms – partners of Seara. There they are raised for up to 39 days on average.

Handling Practices
All the chickens are raised in a controlled environment on farms that have the best lighting conditions, ventilation, temperature and hygiene. The water the chickens consume is also treated and controlled.

6. Halal Slaughtering and Processing

The animal slaughter is done at Seara’s own facilities with a permanent team of Islamic bleeders. The halal slaughtering complies with Islamic Rites, under the control and supervision of dedicated Islamic institutions accredited by GCC accreditation Centre & Government authorities.

In addition to this, each production shipment is accompanied with a Halal Certificate that is checked and approved by local authorities. Seara is regularly visited by religious missions from GCC and other Islamic countries including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Egypt and others.

The last stage of the production cycle is the industrialization when the chicken is cut, packaged and becomes ready for consumption.
